SCPASA, otherwise known as the Southern California Pilipinx-American Student Alliance, hosted their 14th annual Summit “Para Sa Katawhan". Their description for the Summit is as follows: "...the Bisaya phrase meaning “For the People”. This came to mind as SCPASA strives to further challenge the current construction of Pilipinx American identity and the idea of the monolithic Filipino experience."
I co-moderated a presentation titled "Bridging the Gap: Building Diasporic Academic Communities" with my partner, Andre O'Quinn. We hosted the workshop twice during the summit to 50+ students! Our workshop focuses on the Pilipinx experience in academia where we pinpoint the lack of resources for Filipino Americans collectively across the United States.
